Jessie Conner is a Southern Gospel soloist from the beautiful hills of Cleveland, TN. Jessie has been a church boy his entire life. When Jessie was a young child, his father Gilbert Conner became pastor of a little church in Calhoun, TN by the name of "old Fashion House of Prayer." Around eight years later, the doors of the church shut. In 2008, Jessie and his father formed a small group called "God's Way" which featured his mother Helen Conner, his father Gilbert Conner & his great aunt Bonnie Holcomb. And about two years of the group traveling as a trio, Jessie stepped in singing bass which later the group was renamed "God's Way Quartet". Sadly, the Quartet only lasted around three years due to Jessie's father passing away while preaching at a church in Reo, GA. On the same day of Gilbert's passing, Jessie felt that he wasn't where he was suppose to be with The Lord and gave his heart to Christ fully and truly. Around a week after Gilbert's death, Jessie felt the calling from God to continue the ministry by solo. Since Jessie has accepted the calling of Christ, many amazing things has been happening. To this day, Jessie still travels and tells his testimony and sings the Gospel around 90+ dates a year. Within a year of traveling solo, Jessie had the honor to sing in 100+ churches and plans to do many more! (Psalms 104:33)
Jessie's music history actually begin way back before he was born. His father Gilbert Conner picked a guitar and sung with his mom and dad The Conner Family back in the 1960s & his mother Helen Conner sung with the well-known The Sanders Family back in the 1970s when she was just a young girl. The Conner Family didn't do much traveling. Only in malls and in the North Georgia/East Tennessee areas. On the other hand, The Sanders Family traveled over 200+ dates a year and sung in states such as Florida, Tennessee, Georgia, Indiana, North Carolina, South Carolina and many other states! Back when Gilbert was around 8 years old, he picked up the guitar. Madeline Goode (Jessies grandmother) always told Jessie that Gilbert always had to drag the guitar cause the guitar was bigger than him! About the same thing happened on the other side of the family (except the guitar). Everytime Helen would sing on stage, they were people standing up trying to find out where that little high pitched voice was coming from. The Sanders Family was known because of their piano player (Helens mother). When the spirit hit Mrs Ollie Mae Sanders, She would get so carried away that her fingers would get pinched between the keys and her fingers would bleed. But that never stopped her! When the spirit REALLY took over, she would bend all the way back till her hair toched the floor and shout all over that piano. But unfortunately in the 1980's both groups came off the road due to health problems and all their youngins were beginning their familys. But Jessie continues to carry the music history for both sides.
Back in Jessie's childhood days, he always enjoyed music just never played anything. Jessie grew up in a very talented family. Everyone could sing, play or do something. One night out of nowhere, Jessie's father Gilbert Conner grabbed him up and set him in his lap. And he pulled out a old guitar and said "Jessie, your a Conner boy, every Conner's talented and i'm going to learn you." Gilbert strummed a cord on the guitar and begin to sing "If its a foreign battlefield where i finally find your will. Then lord that's where i long to be. (Speak The Word, Lord) " Jessie fell in love with it. Then several years later when dad passed away, Jessie found the soundtrack and begin singing that song every door he walks through. Because wherever God tells him to go, he will go.
As Jessie travels and sings Gods word in song, some folks ask "Why do you do what you do at your age?". Back in 2014, One day, Jessie was sitting on his cousins couch in Rossville, GA and he felt that God was calling him to travel and sing. About three or four months after announcing his solo ministry, Jessie was listening to a great friend's CD and there was a specific song on that album that stuck close to Jessie. That song was "The Call". The phrase in that song that caught Jessie's ears was "Remind me Lord you called me. Sometimes i may get weary. But if one soul is saved its WORTH IT ALL!" Jessie then dug up the track to that song and begin singing it everywhere he sang. Ever since Jessie begin singing the song The Call, Jessie's answer to those that ask that question is simply "Its not a option, its a calling.
The two biggest influences in Jessie's life was his dad Gilbert Conner and The Voice of Gospel Music, Mr Kenny Hinson. Jessie grew up listening to his dad sing and play in churches. But on the way to every church Gilbert had to preach or sing at, The Hinson's was always blaring through the speakers of the car. Even at a young age, Jessie knew that these two men were great servants of God. Every time these two great men opened their mouth to sing, Jessie was zoned out in their singing
